A strong board is the foundation of a strong nonprofit organization and yet many board members are unclear about how they can and should help support the organization’s mission. Nonprofit Board Essentials provides a comprehensive introduction to the roles and responsibilities of board members, as well as a strong understanding of board governance and the skills to lead an organization to success.
By the end of the session, participants will:
1) Learn what it means to be a nonprofit board member and define your individual commitment
2) Gain a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards
3) Understand the legal obligations of nonprofit board members
4) Understand the distinction between governance and management support; understand the board’s roles and responsibilities in each area
This event is a good fit for:
Prospective and new board members, executive directors, and anyone wanting to learn more about nonprofit board service and expand their capacity to govern effectively.
