Request for Proposals (RFP) is a method of soliciting proposals from prospective consultants for your project. The RFP provides basic information about your nonprofit, the project, and what information you are requesting to evaluate the consultant, including experience and qualifications along with a proposed Scope of Work and estimated cost.

Scope of Work (SOW) is a document that captures and defines the tasks, activities, deliverables, and timeline an independent consultant will execute for a client project. A SOW is an important tool that determines the boundaries of a client project and provides the foundation for measuring performance against project goals.

Consultant Contract is a formal agreement that defines the legal parameters of the engagement and outlines the expectations and responsibilities of both parties. The contract should include specific reference to the Scope of Work, costs and allowable expenses, and the process for billing.
